Me Made May 2018, SEW #8
Shift Dress/Kurta from Sarong
A very big Hello to All!
May is half way over. It is great to see so many beautiful creations by so many sew lovers across the world. I too have saved some pictures of other to inspire me in future.
My 8th creation for Me Made May 2018
This is a three quarter sleeve shift dress or kurta with something like a chinese collar or polo neck, and also the V-neck is made to look like as if the dress is a wrap dress.
I sew a red piping starting from the right shoulder going upto the left waist. That makes this dress more interesting. I also like the broad gold weave that I placed in the bottom.
Most interesting question: What fabric is this?
Well Well! We went on a trip to Manipur, India some time back. There I found this sarong, which is a dress for the local women. It is hand woven. The fabric is pure cotton dyed in black with satin gold and red threads woven into it, to form this MAJESTIC border. I just loved it. I realised that I would hardly ever use it if I were to dress up as a Manipuri. So, I sew this shift dress or kurta. I team it with maroon lowers or leggings or churidaar.
Hope you like my today’s creation. Come back soon for the next post which has a video tutorial and a printable too.
Take care…
